It was a game to remember. Two power houses in lacrosse within the Circle City Conference. Guerin Catholic ranked 5th vs Brebeuf Jesuit ranked 10th in state standings. Brebeuf was the defending Boys Lacrosse Circle City Conference winners from last season.
Brebeuf scored quickly to get a 2-0 lead against Guerin Catholic. The Golden Eagles was able to score and defend against the Braves for the 1st half of the game. Our Boys in Gold and Purple had the lead during half time with the score of 6-4.
The Braves would come out strong in the second half and kept the Golden Eagles scoreless. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 6-5.
At the 4th quarter, the Golden Eagles would extend the lead to 7-5. The Braves would stop the bleeding and prevent the Guerin Catholic from scoring. Brebeuf would score twice and tied the game 7-7 to extend it to overtime.
During the over time, the Golden Eagles would have multiple scoring attempts and a man up opportunity. The Brebeuf Goalie would prevent Guerin Catholic 3 times from hitting the net.
At the end, Brebeuf was able move to an offensive mode and score their winning shot. With the sudden death rule in OT, the Golden Eagle loss against the Braves. Final score of 8-7.
Next game for our Golden Eagle will be this – May 2nd – PACK THE HOUSE against the 2017 State Champs – Cathedral (Irish). The last time the Cathedal Varsity lacrosse played in our field was in 2014. Come and join us this Wednesday to give our guest a warm and loud reception. Let us “PACK THE HOUSE” !
