Golden Eagles News · Guerin Girls Lacrosse Beats Cathedral 6-5 in a Battle of Goalies

Guerin Girls Lacrosse kept their winning streak going by beating Cathedral for the second time this season in a squeaker, 6 to 5.  This game was a defensive match, highlighted by excellent goalie play.  Freshman Guerin goalie, Ruth Abdalla, played lights out, blocking 74% of Cathedral shots, and saving 14. Defenders Emma Smith, Kylie Crisci, Katherine Constantino, and Amelia Youngman combined to harass and harry Cathedral’s aggressive offense.  Senior Carly Wilson and Junior Ella Bellflower scored two goals each to lead the GC offense.

In picture one below, Senior Carly Wilson snags a ground ball to bring the ball to the Cathedral crease.  Picture two is Junior Izzie Aigotti scoring a critical goal late in the second half.  Junior Kylie Crisci moves the ball upfield  in picture 3.  In the fourth shot, Goalie Ruth Abdalla snags one of her outstanding 14 saves, and in the next picture, Junior Ella Bellflower attacks the net.  The final picture is a happy Coach Billand presenting Ruth Abdalla with the player of the game trinket.
